    Boris Messerer Asafovich (born in 1933) -  Soviet and Russian theater artist, stage designer, teacher. President of the Association of theatre, film and television artists of Moscow. Academician of the Academy of ARTS (1997; corresponding member 1990). People's artist of Russia (1993). Laureate of two state prizes of the Russian Federation (1995, 2002). Member of the Union of artists of the USSR since 1960, the Union of theatrical figures of the Russian Federation and the Union of cinematographers.

  The author of the scenography of more than one hundred and fifty Opera, ballet and drama performances. His work is closely related to his work in the Sovremennik theatre, the Bolshoi theatre and the Academic theatre. Vakhtangov theatre, the Satire theatre, theatre. Pushkin, the theater of Mossovet and many others. For a long time he was the main artist of the Moscow art Theater. Author of the monument in Tarusa (2013) State and public awards and prizes: State prize of the Russian Federation (1995, 2002), Silver medal Of the International exhibition of quadrennial scenography in Prague (2003), Order of Honor (2003), theater award "crystal Turandot" (2008), Order of merit for the Fatherland "IV degree (2008), Prize named after N. In.Gogol (Italy, 2011), prize. O. Yankovsky (2013), the Prize. N. Roerich (2013), Order of Friendship (2013), ARTS Awards: Silver medal of ARTS (1987); gold medal of ARTS (2002), the Order "For service to art" (2013).
